The Rotary Club of Kabarole launched the Rotary Community Action for Malaria Prevention and Health Improvement (RCAMP-HI) project, supported by a $9,000 Community Impact Grant from Malaria Partners International.
The launch took place on November 5 at Rubingo Health Centre III, the community with the highest malaria prevalence in Fort Portal City. District Governor Geoffrey Martin Kitakule officiated the event, joined by Fort Portal City leaders, health officials, local community representatives, and Eva Kagona (Malaria Partners Uganda Program Manager). This year-long project focuses on practical, community-level malaria prevention and education.
Key activities include:
• Distribution of 500 insecticide-treated nets to households with young children
• Ten community sensitization meetings reaching 5,000 people
• Training of 50 Community Health Workers
• Increased access to subsidized rapid diagnostic tests and treatment
• Malaria education in 10 primary schools reaching 2,000 students
• Quarterly household surveys and health facility data reviews to track progress

This is the Rotary Club of Kabarole’s first Community Impact Grant from MPI. By strengthening prevention efforts, expanding access to care, and supporting Community Health Workers, the project aims to reduce malaria prevalence and improve health outcomes for families in Fort Portal City.
