Project Summary: The Rotary Malaria Committee of Liberia is aligning 20 high-volume private hospitals and clinics in Montserrado County with national malaria protocols, addressing a critical gap in a county where private facilities account for nearly 80% of health service delivery but most still diagnose malaria based on symptoms rather than RDTs. Three structured sessions are delivered across all 20 facilities: a management awareness meeting, a separate session for doctors and consultants, and a two-day laboratory training for technicians, all facilitated by the National Malaria Control Program and USAID/PMI. Each facility receives five boxes of 25 RDT kits, supported by monthly joint supervision visits from NMCP, Ministry of Health, and Rotary teams, and refresher training every six months over the two-year project period. Alongside the health facility workstream, Rotarians and NMCP staff are conducting community awareness campaigns in high-burden communities across the county, teaching residents to recognize symptoms, seek proper diagnosis, and eliminate mosquito breeding sites, with radio outreach estimated to reach 500,000 people across Montserrado County.
