Rotary members from the Ndola Mukuba Club, Zambia donated 5,000 surgical masks and 3,050 pairs of gloves on May 4, 2020 to the 301 Community Health Workers recently trained in Phase 1 of Rotary’s Copperbelt Malaria Elimination project covering the Copperbelt districts of Masaiti and Mpongwe. The Rotary Club of Ndola Mukuba was the host club for the Phase 1 Rotary Global Grant with the Rotary Club of Federal Way serving as international partner.
Rotarian Malaria Partners Zambia funded the purchase of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the Community Health Workers.
Zambia’s national TV captured the presentation of the equipment, which featured Ndola Mukuba club president, Licyano Hara, and Malaria Partners International’ executive administrator, Martha Lungu. The national broadcast was aired May 4th. The Times of Zambia newspaper published its feature story of the equipment distribution on May 7th.
