Rotary members in Zambia and the United States continue to bring further definition to their role in driving down malaria in the Copperbelt Province. We have had productive discussions with the Copperbelt Health Office and PATH/MACEPA. Given that the Government of Zambia has sufficient supplies of insecticide treated bed nets, insecticide for indoor spraying, medicine and rapid diagnostic test kits, Rotary will focus on funding the training of Community Health Workers (CHWs).  Our goal is to empower the CHWs to effectively deploy lifesaving resources in their communities.

Our initial project will be in two Copperbelt Districts, Masaiti and Mpongwe, with a combined population of about 250,000 Zambians. We will be seeking funding from Rotary Clubs in Zambia and the United States and from other partners.  We will apply for a Rotary Foundation Global Grant.
