Last week, on December 11th, Elaine Gibbons, VP of Global Engagement with PATH, and Neal Myrick, Global Leader of the Tableau Foundation, provided Seattle #4 Rotary with an in-depth look at how technology and data are revolutionizing how we battle malaria in Africa. Of particular note is that with the use of complex modeling, taking into account weather patterns, geography, population and recent malaria trends, technicians can accurately forecast were future malaria outbreaks will occur, the intensity of those outbreaks, and can allocate resources to those areas in anticipation of needs down to the village level.
