We are pleased to announce that Dr. Wendy Todaro Thanassi has joined the Malaria Partners International’ Board of Directors. Wendy received her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, and while completing that six-year program found time to also earn a Master’s Degree in International Development Economics. Appropriate for Malaria Partners International, Wendy’s undergraduate degree from Yale University was in African Studies and biology.
Wendy currently serves as Service Chief with the California Veterans Administrative Health Care System as well as teaching Population Health Science at Stanford University. She has written numerous research papers based on her work in Kenya, South Africa and Papua New Guinea; presented at professional conferences, such as the Infectious Disease Society of the Americas; and served on Boards such as the Global Health Resource Foundation, Center for Innovation in Global Health, and the American Red Cross. Commenting that “Africa is her first love,” Dr. Thanassi is anxious to assist and support the work of Malaria Partners International.
