Malaria Partners International was proud to provide the keynote address at the 2024 Big West Zone Institute in Spokane, WA. While MPI focuses exclusively on malaria eradication, this presentation, through the malaria lens, provided insights to help Rotary’s mid-level leaders focus on partnerships, impact and scalability, regardless of the focus of their projects.
MPI executive director, Jenny Andrews, moderated a panel of experts including Kedar Gumaste, Deputy Director for Strategy, Planning and Management at the Gates Foundation, Rachel Hermes, Programs of Scale Manager at Rotary International, and Bill Feldt, MPI founding board member and program lead for Partners for a Malaria-Free Zambia.
Using examples of MPI-backed Rotary Global Grants, the panel inspired Rotarians to think big with the stories of MPI’s path from Global Grants, to the $6M Partners for a Malaria-Free Zambia, to Rotary’s investment of $30M in the Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge. The panelists demonstrated the power of partnerships stories of how partnerships bolster expertise and catalyze new ideas.
Looking forward, the panelist shared their vision for Rotary’s active engagement in Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM+), a system of providing last-mile healthcare to some of the most underserved communities in the world.
