Phillip Mammy

Community Health Worker Philip Mammy participated in the Tikonko Chiefdom Malaria Project, where he strengthened malaria case management in Konta, Sierra Leone.

Philip consulted and treated 186 individuals, providing malaria testing, treatment, and follow-up care as part of the project’s community-based approach. Konta was one of small villages on the Sewa river in this project with 275 residents.​

"Today, I had the opportunity to speak with a mother in our community who expressed her concerns about her child's health. She mentioned that her child has been experiencing a high body temperature, a decreased appetite, and a general lack of energy. These symptoms immediately raise red flags for me as they align with those commonly associated with malaria, a prevalent health issue in our region. 

 Upon further assessment, it became apparent that the child falls within the criteria of those who may benefit from our project's resources and support. I had the privilege of conducting a malaria test on the child, aiming to provide timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment. 

 I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in this capacity and to work towards ensuring the health and well-being of each and every individual, especially the most vulnerable among us. I thank you all for your continued support and collaboration as we strive to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
