What is ZRHCC?
The Zambia Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge (ZRHCC) is our USD $5 million initiative to bring primary healthcare services to underserved communities in Zambia through the training and deployment of 2,086 Community Health Workers (CHWs) across 6 districts.
ZRHCC succeeds our USD $6 million Partners for a Malaria-Free Zambia investment, through which we trained and deployed 2,500 CHWs across 10 districts.
Launched in September last year, ZRHCC has an expanded focus on malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia. In just its first year, we have already met our target of training 50% of the CHWs.
CHWs play a vital role in their communities. They don’t just reduce the distance to essential health services—they are also trusted neighbours and friends. This makes them an important channel for sharing vital health information and for countering misinformation around interventions like vaccines and bed nets.
By April next year, ZRHCC will have successfully trained and deployed all 2,086 CHWs, directly impacting the health and wellbeing of more than 1 million Zambians.
